Scientists Find that Low Self-Esteem & Materialism Goes Hand in Hand
This article discusses how we buy more than what we need when we have low self-esteem. This might be good for the economy but it is not good for the buyers. I can relate to this article. I have been dealing with low self-esteem currently do to situations in my personal life. I went out and bought a new car because I was embarrassed of the vehicle that we currently owned that continued falling apart. I spend money on my nieces and nephews because I blame myself for what they have gone through. My husband and I have had a rocky relationship in the past so I tend to buy him things to make him happy which in the long run I hope that it makes me feel better. The one major thing that I am currently buying is food. During the past few years since high school, I have been suffering from low self-esteem. Instead of dealing with it in a positive way I have turned to buying fast food and eating out all the time. I feel that it makes my issues go away. In the long run, none of these actions that I am doing currently is going to higher my self-esteem. Truthfully, it will just make it worse. This article talks about that and makes me realize the truth in our actions. So if we are having a bad day at school or get picked on, running to the mall after school to buy new clothes might make that feeling so away for a short period of time, but without dealing with the bigger issues those feeling will just come right back.
Hate violence? Turn it off
I completely agree with the author. Parents have started to use television as the scapegoat instead of blaming themselves. Adults do need to take the responsibility of what their children are watching. With today's technology there are so many tools that assist parents with helping block what their child views on the television that parents just need to use it. If the tools are offered and they are not using them it is their own fault. The government should not stop in and control what is on TV. Other viewers who might not have children should not miss out on shows that they enjoy because of the parent's with kids.

Writing Process
My writing process includes two steps from the Behrens' writing process. It usually just includes stage four and six. I seem to just start writing. Once I am done, I just check my grammar and punctuation. My writing process is similar because I use two steps. It is different because I am not using four of the essential steps to Behrens' writing process. I think all the steps are important. After reading this chapter I understand why I have struggled on papers in the past. Each one of these steps guides you in the right direction to turn in a great paper. The invention and drafting are the easiest steps for me. Gathering data is the most difficult for me. I usually have a difficult time finding the data and especially when I try to list my sources. I spend the most time gathering the data and drafting. I spend the least amount of my time understanding the task and invention. After reading this chapter and reviewing these steps today, I have now wanted to change my process of changing. I think this has helped me with a new aspect of my writing ability.

My Legacy
I would want to leave a legacy so I am not forgotten after only two generations. Even though I never met any of my great-grandparents I still know many things about each one of them. I would want my great-grandchildren to be able to do the same. I am currently trying to live a life which will set an example for my nieces and nephews. I have six young nieces and nephews who look up to me and I would not want any of them to make some of the mistakes that I have. I have now started college as a freshman again to show them that education is an important asset to have in your life. This is something I would want to make sure that people remember about me. Education has always been like a hobby for me. I also like to stay organized and love to spend my free time shopping for new items to stay organized. My husband still laughs because I spend my free time going through bills and organizing paper work. These are the two main things that describe me at my current point in life. I hope my education and organizational skills will allow me to accomplish the rest of the dreams that I have in life. I want to buy a house, raise a family, and have a career in the accounting field. These are the things that I want to be remembered for. I want to be remembered as a hard worker who never gave up, and accomplished all of her goals and dreams in life.
